It’s an amazing feeling when you find the perfect venue for your wedding and even better when they have a venue coordinator to help you on your big day! But now you are probably wondering, what is the difference between a wedding planner and a venue coordinator? If I have a venue manager, do I still need a wedding planner or coordinator?
While we are both there to ensure things go smoothly for your wedding, there are some key differences and one is not a substitute for the other.
Venue managers are fantastic and I am always so happy when I’m able to work with them. In fact, they make my job so much smoother-I love working in a team atmosphere! The more professionals you have looking out for you on your wedding day, the better! However, while it is amazing to have the extra support of a venue manager, they don’t replace a wedding coordinator.

Venue managers are in charge of everything venue related: they oversee the staff, facilitate set up and tear down of tables and chairs, dim the lights for dance time, stock the restrooms, and generally make sure all things at the venue are to your liking and running the way they should. Their main job though, is to take care of the venue.
My job as a wedding coordinator and wedding planner is to take care of YOU! Think of all your hired vendors as a team and the wedding planner serves as the team captain. We take care of the big picture and make sure all the different components are working together in harmony. We coordinate with all of your vendors, answer any questions about set up or timeline. A big difference between venue coordinators and wedding coordinators is that we facilitate the timeline for the day. We are responsible for making sure the events of the day are running on time (ceremony, dances, toasts, etc.) We help the photographer and DJ gather your wedding party and family members to make sure everyone is where they need to be – when they need to be there. Most importantly, we problem solve any issues that may arise. These are just a few of the things a wedding coordinator does.

Ideally, to make sure your wedding as stress free as possible, you want to have both a venue manager and a wedding coordinator on your side. Together we can make sure everything the day goes smoothly and is a happy and stress free day for you, your partner and all your loved ones!
