As wedding designers, our goal is to make each wedding unique. Emily and Allen wanted a beautiful fall wedding, but wanted to stray from the traditional autumnal color palette of reds and oranges. While originally looking through color palettes, the couple found themselves gravitating towards blush, navy and sage colors – but nothing quite hit the mark. Keep reading to see how we made these high school sweetheart’s wedding dreams come to life and stand out from other fall weddings!
Barr Mansion was the perfect canvas for this couple’s fall wedding. Emily and Allen love plants and nature, which the venue has plenty of! Emily particularly loved the big glass windows of the Ballroom, and the overall aesthetic of the grounds. As soon as she walked in, she knew their wedding couldn’t be anywhere else!
The couple started their wedding day with a private tea ceremony with their families. After arriving to Barr Mansion that afternoon, Allen surprised Emily with a bouquet of flowers and a sweet note (nearly everyone was in tears over how sweet it was!) After a quick hug, Emily and Allen separated to get dressed for their first look. They shared sweet words with each other before quickly falling into their usual goofy habits. Emily shared her flower crown with Allen, and we have to say it looked stunning on him as well!
When designing Emily and Allen’s wedding, we chose colors that would make their guests feel welcome. They wanted the day to feel fun for guests, and represent themselves as a couple. Keeping this in mind, we selected warm berry shades, and soft blush and peach tones as the main colors. We used greenery as the base to enhance the natural, earthy feeling Barr Mansion has. To add a fun pop of color, we brought in slate blue, mauve, magenta and a bit of sage green. All together these colors built a unique, but warm and welcoming fall wedding color palette!
The bride’s favorite memory was finally seeing everything come together on wedding day. “It felt magical and it was perfect.” While all of the florals from The Flowered Blue were absolutely stunning, Emily’s favorite was her bouquet. Mabry shaped it into a heart for an added romantic touch. Aside from the design, the love and emotion shared by all of their closest friends and family made this day one of Emily and Allen’s happiest.
Pro Tip: Hiring a wedding coordinator means we make sure you get to eat on your wedding day. One of the groom’s favorite memories of the wedding day was their private dinner together in the mansion!
Emily is also grateful to her hair and makeup artist, Codie at Makeup ATX. “Codie did a great job with my makeup and it stayed ALL day. (From 7am-11pm!) I was and still am SO impressed.” She looked stunning!
“Take it one step at a time. A great wedding planner and designer are well worth the money if you don’t want to stress.” – Emily
“After having a couple of interviews I ended up really liking the overall vibe and personality of Kelly! She was so chill, professional, and kind! I felt comfortable with her almost instantly.
