One Saturday night in Akron, Ohio, Jessica was chatting with a new local at the restaurant she managed about some bar recommendations and where to watch the football game. The next day, the pair ran into each other at a little nearby bar, and Jessica decided to approach David and say hi! From that moment on, the couple was inseparable. Not too much later, David would propose and the couple would have the perfect garden wedding in Austin.
On the weekend of their 2 year anniversary, David asked for Jessica’s brother’s blessing to propose. Of course they approved! David cooked his grandpa’s famous skillet pasta, and the couple made their way to the couch to watch a movie and drink some wine. Little did Jessica know, her typical Friday night would soon turn into the day she got engaged. David stashed the ring underneath a side table, and when the moment was right, he dropped to one knee and pulled the ring from hiding.
The couple chose to get married in Austin, where they currently live, and realized most of their guests would have to travel. Because of this, they decided to have their ceremony and reception at one venue that was centrally located to make travel easy, and so their guests could enjoy Austin for the rest of the weekend. After touring five other venues, Jessica and David finally made their way to The Hummingbird House. Jessica immediately knew there was something special. The grounds are full of lush and beautiful foliage and plants, and there is a reception space (with plenty of AC!) to keep their guests cool. On top of that, Jessica says Danny, the venue manager, was the best to work with! He was kind, knowledgeable and a great resource to have throughout their planning process. Hummingbird House was the perfect venue for their garden wedding in Austin.
Both Jessica and David share a favorite memory of the day – their first look. Jessica said it felt like time stood still during that moment, and it was just her and David. Their first look sums up what their wedding was all about, the two of them, their love and the promises and dreams they share for their future. David was taken aback by how beautiful Jess looked in her dress.
Another favorite of Jessica’s was walking down the aisle to David. She had both of her brothers on either side of her, and was taking in the beauty of the day. Once her eyes saw David, she couldn’t take them off of him! (PS – we worked with the DJ, Smither Productions, to time her processional song perfectly so she would see David right at her favorite lyric. Everyone, Kelly and Bianca included, had chills watching their eyes meet!)
The ceremony decor was extra special to Jessica. The floral install on the venue’s pergola was absolutely beautiful, and her florist even decorated a special chair in the first row dedicated to Jessica’s late mother. Adorned with flowers, a photo of Jules, and a candle, this set up was the most beautiful and meaningful touch. Jessica’s brothers lit her unity candle from her mom’s memorial candle, including her in their ceremony as much as possible.
Later in the day, Jessica remembers being able to look out and see how happy everyone was. It’s not often you get to have most of your favorite friends and family all in one place! Watching her loved ones be filled with happiness put the biggest smile on her face. David loved the entire reception and being able to spend so much time with the people they both love. Dancing was a huge highlight for him!
Jessica loved the floral touches throughout the grounds. From the reception centerpieces, to the bud vases on the lounges, there were little pops of flowers everywhere, bringing their dream of a garden wedding to life! The sitting areas in the cocktail hour area were also great for people to socialize and hang out.
The entire vendor team was a dream – but a few vendors specifically stood out to Jessica and David. Their photographer and videographer, Rebekah Paul and Juan Jose, who are a husband and wife duo, were extra wonderful. Their work is not just a job, they take special care to make their clients feel like they are their only focus, and come to the wedding prepared and determined to capture memories full of happiness and love and turn them into beautiful moments for their clients to reminisce on.
After the perfect garden wedding ceremony, the party kicked off in the reception space. Smither Productions, the DJ, was also wonderful to work with! Jessica and Dave clicked with the owner, Braylon, right away and knew they had to have his company on their wedding day. The party went on all night – they even had a few encores after the last song!
“When I connected with Bianca on our first call, I felt like I was talking to a long time friend. Her dedication and love for the business was evident. Also – let’s be real, when I first started the planning process, I had unrealistic pinterest wedding expectations. During our very first call, she set realistic expectations, it was a conversation that was needed and much appreciated. After that, she shifted to how we could still have everything we dreamed of and then quickly started executing. Connecting with Bianca was the breath of fresh air I needed from the very beginning of our planning process, she zeroed in on what was important to us and was able to create the most beautiful day for us.
Bianca and Kelly are just too good to be true.
You would think with the majority of your people not being in the same state as you during the wedding planning process, it would be tough or not as fun. But with Bianca and Kelly, they jumped right in and it felt like they became part of our family. They dealt with my early morning texts weeks leading up to the wedding, and dropped everything to talk on a Monday evening when I was anxious about the recent Covid spike leading up to our wedding. They are the calm and care you need during your planning process. I honestly miss talking with them daily. They made our wedding more than we could have ever dreamed. Their attention to detail and eye for design is unmatched, we are incredibly blessed to say our wedding was a Bianca Nichole & Co wedding!”
